World Trophy 2010

Cable Wakeboard World Trophy with 225.000 US Dollar cash prize so far

This news should get everyone in the mood for more and provoke the wish for the season to start. But patience needs to be exercised because this year's tour won't start that early in season. Due to changes within our governing body, the IWWF, some things needed to be considered while planning. The Middle-East region now belongs to the Asia&Australia confederation (A/A) and the former EAME has been renamed to E&A (Europe & Africa). The good news is, Israel is sill part of the E&A confederation and therefore the European Championships.

By now we have fixed all the dates and part of the cash prize but need some more time to finalize two more locations:
Date Location Cash Prize
30.07. - 01.08. Stop 1: tba tba
17.09. - 19.09. Stop 2: Izmit, Turkey 100.000 USD
14.10. - 17.10. Stop 3: tba (European Championships) tba
18.11. - 21.11. Stop 4: Davao, Phillipines (AA Championships) 125.000 USD

Now let's move onto the facts for this year's Cable Wakeboard World Trophy and the official CWWC World Ranking.

With the world wide ranking system we introduced in 2009, which sticks to international standards from other board sports, the importance of every single competition increased. Main element of this new structure is the World Ranking. All results from registered competitions get integrated - on international as well as on national level.
The ones that want to make it on the top of the ranking and want to wear the leader's red lycra should know the competition calendar in detail and plan their season carefully. The goal for all future calendar is to optimize and establish equal opportunities for every rider all around the world.

It needs to be worth traveling to Europe or any other part of the world.

Especially for the world ranking points, which equal real cash in the end of the season. Whereas Tom Fooshee was able to take 10.000 USD back to the states after winning the 2009 final in Turkey, Mike Ketellapper and Maxine Sapulette got hold of a similar amount of cash with their placements in the world ranking and throughout the tour's other competitions.

Besides the CWWT stops with 800 points each, the Confederation Championships (800 pts); the World Championships (1000 pts); some international registered events and the respective National Championships (both 400 pts) are of high importance to accumulate points for the world ranking.

All information, the rider's registration for these events and the current world ranking will be available here on cablewakeoard.net.

Another positive development is the fact that from now on international title events worldwide (confederation champs) will be connected with a CWWT stop. This means savings on travel costs and an additional opportunity to win prize money and gain ranking points. Further it helps us to have an uncluttered season and to preserve the calendar in general.

Thus by season 2011 it is planned to have Confederation Championships together with a CWWT stop not only in the E&A (European champs) but also in A/A and PanAm.

This gives extra value to the world ranking because it truly reflects the level of riding world wide. Therefore invitational events for only a small group of top rider as well as solely promotional events will not be included in the ranking.

A good placement in the world ranking is also of high interest for the rider's sponsors as it reflects directly onto their brand and provides additional exposure.

Especially when it comes with a secured media volume as achieved on last year's tour. Independent sources calculated  TV advertising value of 2.5 million euro each competition in 2009. This does not include numbers of the provided live-stream, which was distributed world wide on more than 60 channels, as well as all public tv (Mc Donalds, Airports, Train station), all print & radio and billboards at destination. The billboard advertising campaign in Bursa, Turkey brought advertising value of more than 150.000 Euro.

The media concept will be further developed and optimized for 2010. Since 2005 the german agency ID+MA lays the groundwork and conceptional basis that starts paying off. Media interest and values continually rose over the last years from which everyone benefits.

All dates and news will be published here on cablewakeboard.net
