Belgrade International CWWC Stop Report

Belgrade International CWWC WAKEBOARD Stop by IWWF (Int 2 C/ 500 Points

500 points worth competition started on Friday with a training on Aqua Ski cable in Belgrade, Serbia. For us with late arrival time with big “maxi gurmanska”, best grill ever eaten. We went late for a sleep, but this didn’t stop us to wake up early for warming up before the qualifications.  Around 40 riders from 7 countries came to fight for 3500 Euro cash prize and as much points they can get in 6 categories (Junior Men, Junior Ladies, Open Men, Open Ladies and Masters).

Well known Auri again showed her high level of riding and took first place in Junior Ladies category.  With bs 1 over the table, fs 3 over the kicker, raley, s-bend, blind judge, switch fs 3 over the left kicker and bs 1 over the slider she showed us all in qualifications that she will be hard to reach in finals. She is definitively preparing her self to rock in Open Ladies category in some years.  He was followed by Sara Lazarević (SER) on a 2nd place and Milica Miloslaveljević  (SER) on a 3rd place.

Wakeskaters were split into two heats. The second heat leader was Kevin Cobb from Austria and we expected a lot from him. He was the hardest competitor on this competition. He won with amazing run and showed us all what he didn’t show us on the last competition. He did shuvit on the table, bs1, switch fs 3, switch fs bigspin, 180 tictac, roastbeef and finished with switch over the huge slider and 180 off. 2nd place took Nikola Stanisavljević from Serbia with almost double less points in his run. On the third place was Philipp Rodrigues. Two girls from Croatia Nelly Mance and Sanda Jeličić joined to men to show that girls need to wake up and try this sport. They took 7th and 8th place.

Next category was one of my favoritest, cuz girls were in. It was hard fight for 1st and 2nd place between Denise and Sophie. Denise just came back on the water from hard double knee injury and seems she is really in form. She did 540 on a table, fs 3 over the kicker, frontflip, roll to blind, blind judge, half cab roll, grabbed kicker jump and finished with bs slide 270out. On the first place was Sophie having amazing two runs from which was really hard to pick up the better one, but here it is: bs slide over the table, fs 3 on the water, grabbed bs 3 over the kicker, blind judge, front blind, switch half cab roll, 180 blind on the water, fs 5 over the kicker and finished with bs slid blind out. On the third place was Gini. This is the first year for her that she joined Open Ladies and she says, it was really hard to get this medal. She did bs blind on the box, ts 5 over the kicker, bs 180 indy, raley nose grab, krypt, switch 3 over the kicker, fs board to bs blind.

The hardest category was Open Men with home competitor Stefan Lalić who even surprised himself with his crazy stand up run, switch 180 on the box lipslide to blind, switch revert, hugeee off axis 3, bellair, hs mobe, blind judge, switch hs fs 5 over the kicker, 313, hs 5. He ended up on the 2nd place.

On 1st place was Rene Konrad from Germany, showing once more that he is one of the best European riders having each time stand up runs and showing he is one of the most consistent riders on the scene and definitively one of the leaders in a heat. He did 270 in front board Jackson slide, bellair, hs bs 5 over the kicker, eggroll, 313, s-bend to blind, fs 3 over the kicker, bellair blind, Ollie on slider bs 180 out. In this really hard fight Stefan Lebwohl from Austria took 3rd place making really great stand up run. He started with switch 270 in, fronboard 90 out, ts bs 3, raley, krypt, switch front to blind, roll to blind, switch bs 3 over the kicker, switch 270 in frontboard 90 out. He is taking his medal and smile back to his home cable Planksee where he couldn’t show his best on the last weekend’s competition.

One of the hardest categories after Open Men was Junior Men category having Rocco van Straten (NED) on the first place again. He did 270 on jackson slide 90 out of table, hs fs 7 over the kicker, 313, crowmobe, mobe, tootsie roll, 270 on tailpress 90 out. He was followed by Miles Töller (GER). Miles did 270 jackson slide (seems like this slide is really popular this year), hs fs 7 over the kicker, frontflip blind, ts krypt, bellair, switch krypt nuclear, front roll over the kicker, 270 on 90 out. Emilio Epstein (AUT) took third place. He is really heading more up, breaking boards almost every week with his huge air tricks. He did switch mobe, crowmobe over the kicker, front blind, switch roll to blind, fs 360 off the kicker, 270 on and 270 out on the last slider.

The most respectful category was definitively Master category. This guys when they got married and had babies are not hanging in front on TV, but they are really often on the cable. One of the best in Europe is definitively Woofie from Germany who took first place with bs 270 blind out on the table, bs 3, Vulcan, blind judge, ts fs 5, bs boardslide 270 out. He was followed by Zoran Janovac (SER) on 2nd place and Stevan Hadzi-Slavkovic (SER) on the 3rd place.

We had live cast on their national TV Košava, having great sun, happy atmosphere and incredibly huge and technical tricks from some of the best European riders.

Now prize giving ceremony is finishing with hug smiles on rider’s faces and afterwords… let’s see what happens, great afterparty on the cable!

Big thanks to Societe Generalle Bank, Frikom, Pepsi, Knjaz Miloš, Pozdrav iz Rovinja, M&M, Aquacom, SWWF; Ada Ciganlija, Grad Beograd!
