European Championships 2012 - Press Release 1
In September September, Toulouse, France will host the largest ever Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate European Championships.
Toulouse, France’s fourth biggest city, is bubbling over with life.
Steeped in history, yet hip and lively, the enchanting Toulouse is one of France's most beautiful cities. The food here and in the rest of the Midi Pyrenees region, for which Toulouse serves as capital, could be among France's most memorable. Elected several times the best French city to study, it is ideally situated in the heart of Southern France, between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean
. Cosmopolitan and enthusiastic
, the Ville Rose joyously mixes heritage and lifestyle, historic centre,
bars and restaurants whose terraces spill out onto the streets, and a strong wakeboarding community.
The cable is situated on a popular lake and the crowds are sure to be large with spectators watching the fight to become the 2012 European champions.
Riders will be at the cable all week with the finals happening on the Friday and Saturday. Riders will have two chances to show their skills and earn a place in the finals. Each category will be split into qualification heats with the leaders progressing straight to the finals and the rest having one final chance to qualify in the high pressure one run last chance qualifiers. With favorites going out early in the past, all riders will be riding hard from the moment they get on the water.
With cable wakeboard on the short list of sports being considered for the 2020 Olympic games, this competition will be particularly important and the Olympic Officials are likely to be keeping a close eye on the sport.
In order to compete at the Europeans all riders must qualify with their federations by competing at national and international competitions, so for every rider just being able to enter the competition marks a great achievement.
