37 Rider from Germany and the Netherlands came to the cable in Hamburg Harburg for the first Stop of the Wake Masters Tour 2009 and presented first class Wakeboarding in Germany.
The Organisation and the level of riding were definately on international level and the spectators saw some of the best riding in Germany on a sunny Saturday in Hamburg.
With his 16 years of age the Boys Worldchampion from 2008, Frederic von Osten, left everyone else behind and won the Open Category with ease. The Kid from Hamburg showed off his amazing skills on his homecable with loads of style and technique. His obstacle riding was just incredible and combined with huge, difficult inverted tricks he set the pace for this season.
Steffen Vollert, one of the best German riders had bad luck in the final, went for too much and crashed early in his run. Another Local Hero from Hamburg, Tom richter, made it to 2nd place and Daniel Wehmann, German Champion from 2008 came 3rd.
The Ladies Category was dominated by the young guns. Sophia Marie Reimers won with her huge Frontflip and BlindJudge in addition to her style on the obstacles and clean Spins. Right behind her, a solid performance was shown by Mayanka Jansen and Kathrin Oegretici, the only "real" open lady came 3rd.
The Junior Men were rocked by Rocco van Straaten, the multitalent from the Netherlands. His Run was not beatable by a solid run from Mike Ruttkowski (2nd) and Marco de Ceglia.
The opening Stop of Wake Masters Tour 2009 presented the beginning of a German tour on international Level which seems to get a lot of attention this season.
Especially important for the German rider is that the Wake Masters Tour Stops are official IWSF competitions and riders can earn Ranking Points for their national Ranking and fulfill their qualification criteria for the European Championships 2009 in Finland.
